Maple Leaf Education North America Ltd (MLENA) is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Maple Leaf Educational Systems (CMLES), registered in British Columbia, Canada on February 4, 2016.
Maple Leaf Educational Systems had operated in Vancouver since 1998 with a small office dedicated to recruiting certified teachers for Maple Leaf International Schools in China. The establishment of MLENA signals a corporate expansion to include a range of educational operations throughout Canada and the US, including establishing new independent schools, further teacher recruitment initiatives, international and domestic student recruitment, short term tours and camps and other educational initiatives.
Vancouver was selected as the location for Maple Leaf Education North America Ltd. as a reflection of our strong connections in British Columbia and our established networks in this very internationally oriented city.
MLENA opened its first BC independent high school, Maple Leaf World School-TRU, in September 2016 on the campus of Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. In September 2017, MLENA opened a second school, Maple Leaf World School-KPU, on the campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Richmond, BC. In September 2019 its newest school, Maple Leaf World School – LakeheadU, opened on the campus of Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, ON. These schools are certified by the BC Ministry of Education and Ontario Ministry of Education, each school enrolling students in grade 10, 11 and 12.
In Sept 2019, MLENA purchased a 27-acre beautiful independent school campus, “Augusta Academy” in Brockville, Ontario. This gorgeous boarding campus is under planning for opening in 2022.
