In 2017 MLENA established a subsidiary company, Maple Leaf Educational Tours & Services (MLETS), to manage the promotion and operation of short term and customized educational tours. These tours include summer and winter camps and group tours to selected Canadian and US universities.
Our summer and winter camps and tours primarily cater to the short-term study abroad interests of elementary, middle and high school students at Maple Leaf International Schools in China.
As our North American company expands, so does the scope of the camps and tours offered by MLETS. We are pleased to provide information on our products and services and to discuss customized activities.
MLENA welcomes over 1300 students each year as participants in our summer and winter programs. Of these about 800 participate in our customized university tours in Canada.
Students travel by plane and air conditioned coaches, staying in hotels and university residences across Canada experiencing the breadth of the Canadian landscape and visiting selected Canadian universities. Each group of approximately 45 students is accompanied by our tour guides and escort teachers to ensure safety and engaging travels. On these tours students visit some of Canada’s major cities, including Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Victoria, our most remarkable natural landmarks including Niagara Falls and the Columbia Ice Fields, and of course get in plenty of time for shopping.
The university visits include hosted campus tours, presentations by university representatives and often a chance to visit the bookstore and have lunch in the cafeteria. The universities visited vary from group to group but typically include a minimum of ten campuses including University of McGill, University of Toronto, Waterloo University, Western University, University of Alberta, University of Calgary, Simon Fraser University, University of BC and University of Victoria.
Our Canadian camps offer a fun filled leadership development program for students in the elementary and middle school grades. Primarily located in Vancouver, BC students experience a mix of classroom-based activities and outdoor adventures designed to encourage them to learn about themselves and their relationships with their peers all while improving their spoken English skills. Highlights of this program include visits to the Capilano Suspension Bridge, local beaches and forest adventures and a day trip by ferry to Victoria.
Our US based camps blend leadership development with activities and sightseeing in the magical environments of Disneyland, Universal Studios, and the many adventure parks in the southern California region. These camps are designed with the needs of younger students in mind with tour guides and escorts experienced in meeting the needs of young learners. The program features lots of daily breaks, fun-filled activities, and time to rest and relax. Students who participate in these camps return to their classes with improved verbal English abilities and more confident in themselves.
