Maple Leaf Education North America’s Second Year Anniversary Celebration
It has been two years since the opening of Maple Leaf Education North America Ltd. (MLENA), the Canadian subsidiary of China Maple Leaf Educational Systems Ltd. (CMLES). Many milestones have been reached over the past two years and a small celebration was held at the Vancouver office on February 4th 2018 to recognize these successes. The celebration was attended by Dr. Sherman Jen, Founder and Executive Director of China Maple Leaf Educational Systems, Dawn Sutherland, President of MLENA and members from both the MLENA and Maple Leaf Educational Tours and Services (MLETS) teams.

Since 2016 MLENA has successfully opened two British Columbia certified schools, Maple Leaf World School – TRU (MLWS-TRU) in Kamloops (2016) and Maple Leaf World School – KPU (MLWS-KPU) in Richmond (2017). Operating as Group 4 BC Independent Schools, these schools lease space and services from the universities. Maple Leaf World School principals, Blake Defieux (MLWS-TRU) and Brad Helgason (MLWS-KPU) and their teaching teams, have many years of experience working with Maple Leaf schools in China and have brought the successful Maple Leaf model of education to North America.
Maple Leaf Education North America also celebrated the success of its teacher recruitment and summer and winter camps and tours. In the past year 125 new teachers have been hired from the Vancouver office to work at Maple Leaf schools throughout China, with 30% of newly hired teachers coming from current MLES teacher referrals. MLENA’s partner company, Maple Leaf Educational Tours and Services (MLETS) hosted 1280 students in cross-Canada university tours, and Vancouver based summer and winter camps.
