Maple Leaf Education North America is delighted to announce Monica Andrews as the appointed inaugural Principal of Maple Leaf World Schools – Lakehead University (MLWS-LakeheadU) due to open September 2019.
Monica holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies – Geography from the University of Waterloo, a Bachelor of Education degree from Nipissing University and a Master of Education degree from the University of Prince Edward Island. Monica has taught with Maple Leaf Educational Systems (MLES) in Tianjin, China since 2014 and she was then appointed Interim Vice Principal in 2018. She has also acted in several other leadership roles in her years with Maple Leaf International School – Tianjin, including Academic Advisor, Department Head, Educational Coordinator, Curriculum Editor, Team Leader and Systems Coordinator. As well as her leadership roles, Monica contributed greatly to Maple Leaf’s extra-curricular activities at her school as coach to various sports teams and clubs.
Monica has extensive experience working in international education. In the years prior to her contribution to MLES, she volunteered as a classroom teacher/environmental activist in Belize and taught English as a Second Language in South Korea from 2009- 2012. She also worked at British Columbia Offshore schools in both Xianghe, China and Gangnam, South Korea,
Monica is originally from Blenheim, Ontario and we are pleased to be able to offer her the opportunity to return to her home province. During her appointment as Principal we are looking forward to Monica working closely with our University partner Lakehead University to develop the international education sector in Thunder Bay and to help the growth of Maple Leaf Educational Systems through working with Maple Leaf Education North America.
