Our first Maple Leaf cross-school trip to Tofino was a great success! In total 31 staff and students from MLWS-KPU and MLWS-TRU travelled to the island and spent a weekend exploring and having fun in the great weather! Tofino is a small district on Vancouver Island, off Canada’s west coast.

The students stayed at the Cedar Coast Field Station on Vargas Island where they learned the importance of being kind to our environment, and went whale and bear watching (and were lucky enough to see both!) For the next 3 nights, our staff and students stayed at the Whalers on the Point Hostel. They did some more bear watching and spotted a bald eagle, and walked along the Rainforest Trail in Pacific Rim National Park.
These are only a handful of the activities our staff and students got up to – read the full report including our student’s favourite moments of the trip and one major thing they learned!
